With the uncertainty around COVID-19, calls for social distancing, we are fully expecting that many of us (Higher Logic included) will be working from home as much as possible for the foreseeable future. For some of you, this made add to your day as you attempt to navigate a familiar platform from home. To that end, we wanted to help ease that transition for you with some tips and tips and tricks. MA Professional (Informz) When you are logging into Informz for the first time from a new location (i.e. different IP address in tech speak) we will send a verification email to the email address associated with your user login id asking for you to validate ...

This Powered by Edu Blog is for all of our Event Planners who need more time in their lives. So, we've come to love the RSVP Only option when setting up events in Event Manager. Why do you ask? Simplicity . This registration mode allows attendees to register with one-click and may cancel their registration with one-click too. Also, it will only take you a few clicks to set up an event using the RSVP Only registration mode.  RSVP was designed for those with accounts on your site and for free events. You'll still get a headcount and registration roster of course for all those afternoon fitness walks, staff trainings,  webinars, and brown ...

Hello HUG and welcome to the launch of our Powered by Edu Blog !  Your Higher Logic Education Team will be blogging weekly (or sometimes bi-weekly) if we have a lot to say.  Each blog will have a different topic/tip that includes:  a tutorial video, a use case, and a link to the knowledge base article(s) in the documentation in the Support Center with the steps. We'll be blogging on advanced configurations and platform functionality-- think of it like Higher Logic Graduate School but in manageable bits.  If you're new to Higher Logic? we've got you covered too!  We'll also have some “Back to Basics” blogs planned too that will get into basic configuration ...

QR Codes and Mobile Apps

QR Codes (Quick Response Codes) are used to encode information into a scan-able image that can easily be read by mobile devices.  Information can include: website URLs codes (numbers, letters, SKUs, etc) contact information This is similar to a barcode that might have a number encoded in it.  A QR code is a specific encoding method, and there are other similar encodings.  QR codes are square and distinguished by having small squares in 3 corners of the QR Code: Mobile devices will need to have a QR code reader app installed to read a QR code and decode this information. One of the most common use cases is to have a URL encoded, that when ...

Hi, all - a common question we get from admins is if we have a comprehensive list of Mail Merge Variables for Email Templates for Automation Rules. The short answer is that we do not, due to the amount of merge variables there are, and how quickly they change. This has been an internal conversation for a long time, but a good rule of thumb is that the available mail merge variables will display based on which template you're in, and can be accessed by clicking on the following button in the HTML editor when you're formatting the Email Template: That said, we do have a list of our Events Email Template variables that have been compiled, and it's available ...

Hi HUG!  My name is Shannon Emery and while I’ve been in the background here on HUG, I wanted to officially announce myself as your HUG Community Manager . Over the years, HUG has been run by passionate Higher Logic employees who created this vibrant community. I am amazed by the discussions, knowledge sharing, and more. Now we are going to give HUG a hug.  Pretend HUG is the heart. Before I go further, here’s a bit about me. In my previous role, I consolidated, developed, and nurtured a 60,000-member community for nonprofit professionals using software and solutions. I’ve done almost everything one can do in community management: analytics, ...

Hi, all - a common question we get from admins is how to request a custom report. While we do have a robust list of reports , there are frequently different combinations of data that would help make some of your jobs easier with the addition of new columns, or a combination of one report or another. While not all customization requests are approved, we do have a standard form for requesting this to streamline the process. Click here to access the custom report request form . Please note: custom reports do require a task order with an associated charge, and the worksheet helps us give you an accurate estimate for the work needed. Happy Friday to you ...

Hi, all - since we've been growing so much, I thought it would be helpful for everyone to have a short note on how best to submit tickets to the support queue if you are having an issue with an online community site. (Please note - this is intended for the Higher Logic Online Communities issues only.) In order to help streamline this process, I'd recommend the following steps: Log in to the HUG website Go to https://support.higherlogic.com/hc/en-us/requests/new Fill out the required fields, but include the following in the ' Description ' section: Location of Issue (link to page where issue is being seen, pagecode, control name): Issue Summary ...

Our 9th Annual Super Forum may be behind us now, but we’re still buzzing with excitement because your encouraging feedback keeps rolling in! We had a great time hosting the event and can’t wait to see you next year (save the date: November 17-20, 2019), but until then, join us as we revel in seven Super Forum happenings that we can’t stop talking about. 1. Topic Pods Our Topic Pods were a big hit this year among attendees who got the chance to take advantage of them. If you had a quick question about nearly anything – engagement, strategy, implementations or integrations, Workspace, Real Magnet, Informz or Online Community platforms – all you ...

Zenoss has been working with and using Higher Logic as the platform for our TechZen Community for over two years. Super Forum 2018 was a great opportunity to chat face to face with the Higher Logic team, peers in technology using the platform, and many other community thought leaders from around the world. After a productive and fun week at Super Forum, I paused to reflect and share my thoughts on the week. So here are the nine most descriptive song titles for Higher Logic Super Forum 2018. “I Want to Take You Higher” - Sly and the Family Stone The vision and road map laid out by the Higher Logic team at Super Forum 2017 ...

Hey guys! If you've worked with our automation rules, you probably already know about some of their capabilities, such as sending out templated emails and conversion trackers. Another excellent way to step up your automation rule game is to use them to add ribbons and badges to user profiles. Before we jump into the step-by-step instructions, I want to briefly speak to the differences, or lack thereof, between badges and ribbons. There is NO technical difference - easy, right? Badges and ribbons certainly have visual differences, but they serve the same gamification purpose and are added to profiles the same way. Your automation rules can be configured ...

One of the many things I love about Higher Logic is HUG, our user community. Not only is it where customers share tips & tricks and best practices with each other, it is also an incredibly active and vibrant place where people submit new ideas and feedback on just about every aspect of our product. While there’s lots and lots of things that we want (and are doing) with the front-end user-facing side of our products, there’s one theme we’ve been working on for the past several months that I want to introduce to you – the new admin experience. I believe that one of the ways we can help deliver the best experience for your customers, users, and members is ...

Hi, all - a common question we get from admins is how to change an HL-managed community into an AMS-managed community. This is a fairly simple process, but it's important to understand the difference between AMS-managed communities and HL-managed communities so you can make sure you understand how each will function and be managed going forward: AMS-managed (or integrated) communities are communities that are created in your membership database (for most clients, that would be NetForum, Aptify, Personify, etc - in our jargon, we refer to this database as an AMS). This means that community membership is based on a classification sourcing from your membership ...

Hi, all - a common question we get from admins is how to set up Google Analytics such that it works with Google Tag Manager and sends analytic data back to Google so you can measure site traffic, bounce rates, and a myriad of other numbers. Below is a step-by-step guide to ensure your data is being measured properly. Set up a Google Analytics account . Take note of your Google Analytics Tracking ID . I'd recommend copying this into a Notepad doc or keeping the tab with it open off to the side somewhere. Go to https://www.google.com/analytics/tag-manager/use-policy and click the Sign In button in the upper right corner. Click on Google Tag Manager. ...

We’ve always known we work with the best and brightest leaders in the association industry, but every now and again an event comes along to prove it. This year, it was the Salute to Association Excellence Awards. These awards are given out every year by Association Trends to recognize top leaders and rising stars in the association community. For the past 39 years, the Salute to Association Excellence has been one of the industry’s must-attend events in Washington, D.C., with over 500 association professionals attending every year. At this year’s event, nearly 40 Higher Logic clients were recognized. We’re honored to work with you and see the difference ...
